Middle School Art ElectivesThe Middle School Art Electives are offered each trimester during 6th and 7th period. Classes meet 4 times a week for 50 minutes and are considered studio courses which allows for work to be completed during in class independent studio time.
Studio Thinking-A Studio based approach to learning In the art studio, students are taught art skills and develop creative processes through a variety of hands on projects. As early as 1st grade, students routinely come to the art studio for a hands on, interactive experience in the art mediums, art history and cultural world arts. Through out the school year, projects are focused to develop 8 Studio Habits of Mind. These "habits of mind" or character traits are Develop Craft, Engage and Persist, Envision, Express, Observe, Reflect, Creativity, and Understand the art world. The definitions of these traits can be found on the Home page of the LTS Art website. Studio Expectations At the end of each week students will be given a grade in studio participation, posted on Schoology. Studio Participation includes the following components and makes up the majority of the student's grade. Positive attitude Productive use of independent work periods Following studio routines, including set up and clean up of the studio areas Respect for art supplies and studio space Respect for peers and teacher
